ALL ABOUT DRESSES: A show by Susan Schwartz and Colleen Conley

There has always been a fluid border between the worlds of art and fashion; at Gallery G in Glencoe two painter/photographers have taken the image of the dress, and in some cases, actual dresses, and collaged them into paintings, constructions and drawings. Susan Schwartz describes herself as a retired photographer and “self-proclaimed fashionista” whose Dress Collection was inspired by upholstery fabric, antique lace and actual garments.
Artist, photographer and art educator Colleen Conley’s dress works incorporate dresses she found over the years in thrift shops; things that carry in them the “grit and romance of time.”
