WILMETTE, IL- The CD “Sacred Songs III” of the Baha’i Music Festival, A capella choir has just been released.
The concert took place on May 24, 2009 at the Baha’i House of Worship. This CD is a LIVE recording of the 130-voice Baha’i Choir. We wrote in our review at the time: “What is remarkable is that this group made up of Baha’i choir members and other singers from across the country and around the world, had four days to prepare. The often complex harmonies flowed smoothly between the sections, often punctuated by solos, duets and trios from the chorus members and Maestro (Van) Gilmer himself.”

Here is a video of “I’m Going Back To The Father,” (Van Gilmer soloist) from the May 24 Baha’i choral concert.
HIGHLAND PARK, Il -You may have heard about the Written Torah and the Oral Torah. Finally, after 5 thousand years or so (consult your local biblical historian), you can hold in your hands “The Comic Torah.”
Aaron Freeman and Sharon Rosenzweig used the funding platform KickStarter to sucessfully raise the $12,000 needed for the Ben Yehuda Press to publish “The Comic Torah” as a full-color book. In fact, to date they have raised over $14,000. You can still fund the project and receive very special incentives until Nov 18, 2:09 pm EST.
The publication date is set for Fall 2010 (or early in the year 5771, according to the Hebrew calendar). But if you can’t wait and NEED “The Comic Torah for Chanukah,” call the Spertus Institute Bookshop (312-322-1740) for signed, pre-production proofs.

CHICAGO, IL- Speaking of Spertus – last Sunday, November 8, as part of the Chicago Humanities Festival, Aaron Freemen and Artemis Steakley-Freeman presented “The Book of Job and the Comedy of Suffering.” Aaron played Satan (Hebrew: השָׂטָן ha-Satan (“the accuser”) and Artemis was Mrs. Job.
As prosecutor in a “People’s Court” spoof, Aaron/Satan went into the sold- out crowd in order to determine if the audience thought there was justice in the world. The answer was a resounding NO. But when the question turned to whether they lived and enjoyed a “good life,” the audience overwhelmingly agreed that they had.
Not sure if God or “The Accuser” wins that round.

Aaron Freeman reminds us that http://www.richardhenzel.com/” rel=”nofollow”>Richard Henzel
played Mark Twain and Job in the production at Spertus.
I never know what kind of useful information I’ll find on your site! In your story about the Comic Torah I learned that “Aaron Freeman and Sharon Rosenzweig used the funding platform KickStarter to sucessfully raise the $12,000…” I checked out Kickstarter.com and it’s a fascinating concept that may be useful for some friends of mine. Thanks!
