Charlie Beinlich’s is my favorite restaurant. You know the one. On Skokie Boulevard. Fish on the walls and not on the menu.
This is the menu and a collage ….from their web site… Yes, Charlie Beinlich’s has web site. In fairness, it is only
one page. It is static and has no links to anything.
Here is their logo…

There were two web phenomena at related to Beinlich’s besides this one. Earlier today, I received an e-mail from Cheeky Chicago as I am subscriber to their newsletter. Cheeky Chicago’s demographic is well….in their media kit they say, “The Cheeky Chick is fun, fabulous and fierce.” Although I am male, 57, and sometimes fun, I’m no stalker. The father of one of co-founders of Cheeky Chicago is my accountant. OK!!!!
CC sent me a survey asking my age, where I lived, how much money I made, what I liked to do at night and my favorite restaurant. Restaurant: Charlie Beinlich’s. I have been going there for 20 years or so and while that does not make me an old-timer, I am a regular. Recently, we sat down and were brought our Manhattans straight up without ordering. Cool.
Later this very day, I received an e-mail from dining at Crain’s Chicago Business that linked to a Check. Please! video about …Charlie Beinlich’s.
Here is the video.
(there is an ad for a Brazilian Steakhouse. That is the opposite of Beinlich’s)
Let’s discuss…Interesting. The young man suggests Beinlich’s as good place for conduct business. It well could be. That is not my take on the place.
Beinlich’s is a place to escape from business or work or home. With it’s wood paneling, mounted fish, cash only, no dessert, cheeseburger aesthetic, I am taken away to some time which if not a shining city on the hill…at least is a far piece from strip malls, cable TV, healthy food and yes…even the internet.
I think we’re going on Thursday….
