With the Olympic announcement coming in a matter of hours, we were reminded of the opening of Wide World of Sports. And that unfortunate ski jumper who exemplified the agony of defeat. His name, by the way, is Vinko Bogataj. He is now a ski instructor and a painter. But we’re all about winners in this post!

Well, actually it was Cameron Frye’s house but you get the picture. Along with the now-endangered landmark Bueller house, you can see five other homes of the featuring designs of the late Arts and Crafts Movement, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie Style and the International Style. The Highland Park Historical Society’s 2009 House Tour, “The Twentieth Century Limited,” will be held on Sunday, October 4, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $35 at the door.
